What is Theme?
Theme is defined as the central idea of a work of literature. It is never directly stated in the book but must be inferred based on the plot and the characters. It is not the same as the subject of a book or the topic of a book. For example, Night is about the Holocaust (subject), but one of the themes of Night is "Despite the loss of home and family, one must persevere."
